Portslade Brewery
The Site
The Former Mersen UK Portslade Site is situated at the centre of Portslade Old Village and forms a largely square shaped piece of land with several changes in level. The site includes the distinctive, brick built, Former Portslade Brewery buildings, including a tall Victorian chimney.
The final scheme included 48 homes of which eleven are new build, seven are renovations of the existing cottages and thirty apartments created within the original Victorian Building. Parking and access were created within a new shared courtyard which will also provide a valuable area of open amenity space.
After extensive consultation and liaison with the Local Authority planning approval was issued in Sept 2017.
The scheme involved a tremendous effort by the whole team, who have tackled numerous demanding technical challenges, and represented approximately 24 months of hard work.
Since then, the project has been completed and has proved to be a very popular development and we understand that all units have been occupied. Whilst we weren’t involved in the implementation stages it has been pleasing to recently return to the site to see that the design concept has been maintained and carried through to completion.
The phased completion can be viewed on-line under the heading The Old Brewery, Portslade.
