Moonzie Mill – Summer 2023

Work has proceeded well over the summer months on our site in Fife.

Having cleared the ground on the site before the worst of the winter months we used the early part of the year to refine the design proposals and complete all the information requirements to submit to Fife Council for Building Regs Approval. We also got the SEPA Statutory discharge requirements signed-off for private drainage connections.

The Building Warrant was issued in June 23, just in time for work to commence in earnest on all of the sub-structure works. Foundations were dug and poured, and the drainage installation commenced thanks to the Groundworks team.

Swilken Joiners came on-board to carry out the main super-structure work in July and work quickly began to shape-up with the outline of the building footprint formed in blockwork, prior to the re-inforced ground bearing concrete slabs being cast on the 14th August.

We are using a stick-built timber frame off the 140mm blockwork inner leaf in a form of hybrid structure utilising slimline circular steel columns to the corners where we have a our glass-to-glass windows.

Overall aim is to target wind and watertight by Christmas so that work can proceed internally in the New Year – fingers crossed that the recent decent weather continues
